Thank you, Jana! I moved to Australia in 2016 from Mongolia with a clear goal: to build a career in accounting on a global scale. Back home, I had two years of accounting experience, but I wanted to challenge myself and grow in a new environment. However, my journey wasn’t as straightforward as I imagined.

While studying for my Master’s degree in Professional Accounting, I had to take up various jobs to support myself. I worked as a housekeeper and eventually became a supervisor at a major hotel chain in Sydney. Although these roles taught me a lot, I felt far from my dream of working in accounting.

I applied to hundreds of accounting jobs, but I either got no response or rejections. It was incredibly discouraging. I realized that my resume wasn’t standing out, and I wasn’t familiar with how to navigate the Australian job market. That’s when I knew I needed guidance.

I remember feeling stuck despite all my efforts. It's been 8 years since I left my professional job. I knew I had potential, but I wasn’t sure how to showcase it to employers. That’s when I reached out to you, Jana. It was a game-changer for me.

I couldn’t believe it at first. After years of uncertainty and rejection, it felt like a dream come true. It wasn’t just a victory for me—it was a win for my entire family.

It’s been life-changing. I love going to work, being part of a supportive team, and knowing I can balance my career with my family life. This year has been full of milestones for me, both personally and professionally.

My biggest advice is to find someone who’s already walked the path to guide you. Whether it’s through resume help, career coaching, or networking, investing in professional advice makes a huge difference. And most importantly, don’t give up. Every rejection is just a step closer to success.

My next goal is to pursue my CPA certification and eventually move into a management accountant or controller role. I’m excited for the future and inspired by colleagues who show that a fulfilling career is possible at any age.
